Welcome to Sugarbelle Designs!
Unique clothing for kids that like to get noticed!

Sugarbelle*Designs is the result of a partnership between two women who met, how else? On the internet! Lisa Maddox and Debby Stephan found they had a similar aesthetic in children's fashion and decided to team up to offer "comfy and complete" fashions for the (not too) sophisticated toddler set. Like most designers, they have a fabric addiction, with their taste running similarly to fabrics with a sense of humor, prints with a retro feel and romantic, feminine prints that make a girl feel extra girly. "We try to create outfits that appeal to moms and the girls that wear them," says Lisa Maddox. "One of the first ideas we agreed on was to that every toddler has a right to feel comfortable in her clothing. We try not to go 'over the top' with our designs. And our bottom line is, if your girl is itchy, weighed down or too covered up in one of our sets, we've failed our primary customer-- the little girl wearing the outfit."

One result of their commitment to comfort is that the two designers have moved in the direction of whimsical lounge sets. "Just about every day one of us emails the other with a new idea for a fun set. Our husbands have gotten into the act, and we bat ideas back and forth endlessly," says Debby Stephan. "We try to be original in the presentation of a simple set, which can be a challenge, given all the designers out there." "It's true," says Maddox. "It can be a challenge to keep churning out the ideas, but it's what we love!"

The designers like to dress their little clients up, too. "Party wear is so much fun to design!" says Stephan. A particular talent of Stephan's is the creation of ultra feminine chenille and cotton ruffle sets. "She's really got a feel for how to design the line of a frilly set ... and when to stop adding more," says Maddox. "I think her portrait sets are adorable, and she has quite a following of moms who rely on her to make their daughters the belle of the ball. She is somehow able to keep the girl's face the center of attention with her dress up sets. She keeps in mind that we are dressing a person, not a doll."

"We enjoy collaborating with moms who have a vision for their little girls that is similar to ours. One that emphasizes style and comfort," says Stephan. "And we love our girls to make a splash when they go out!" adds Maddox. "Yes, they absolutely get noticed," agrees Stephan. "Isn't that what dressing a little girl is all about?"
